This was explained on here a few days back, think it said something like Green was outperforming him, Lynch was looking very very tired at the back end of 2013 and not anywhere near as effective as he had been, probably freeing up cap space too and he'd have been 34 in 2014. If what was said is true then it was out of gentle's hands in any case.
