So you accept that we fail to sell tickets as a sport when they're dirt cheap, so you expect us to sell out 30-40k seater stadiums with every game priced above Grand Final prices?

The World cup prices are what they should be, if you can't afford to go to every game that is fair enough, but the World cup is a premium product and the last final in the UK sold out well in advance, so there is clearly an appetite at that level of price.

However a B grade international like England against whoever was willing to turn up, isn't going to attract a full house even when the tickets were free.

I accept that people (the current “fans” of the sport) are used to dirt cheap tickets/giveaways so will never pay any more than bargain basement prices. So we’re stuck in that death spiral of cheapness with the current “fans”. So the solution surely is that we get more and different fans to our events. Once whose catchphrase isn’t “how much????”.

I hope we do that and fully agree that we need to do that, but I won't hold my breath that this WC is going to do that.

Just one of those things unfortunately. My firm are a sponsor for England RU and we were offered plenty of free tickets for tournaments and we were told to just ‘let them know how many we wanted’.

I fear for the World Cup, I really do.

Both in terms of England’s performance, but also the general engagement/lack of interest.
