...for repelling potential international sponsors. Especially one as big as Coca-Cola.
That is if you believe this weeks League Express. The only reason Coca-Cola didn't sign on the dotted line to sponsor the Four Nations is because of negative stories about the sport in the Australian media. As a huge supporter and believer of a strong international game, it gets my blood boiling to think that domestic issues on the other side of the world are causing internationally recognised brands to pull out of financing the sport at the highest level.
For the RFL in particular, I think this would have been a huge catch. Just a pity the NRL cut holes in the net.
The RFL should be back on the phone to them and try getting them sponsoring a competition here, maybe the Super League (depending when engage's sponsorship runs out)
....or we could just boot the Aussies from the 4 nations for potentially costing the tournament a huge sponsor

whats the lowdown on the four nations for 2010,is it in oz and nz.i fancy another trip downunder, met so many friend who have offered us places to stay
but with the victorian & QLD* government willing to stump up millions to host the games then NZ are going have their work cut out to find the cash to host a game or 2..
* it would'nt surprise me if the QLD government offer up a daft sum to host all of the 2010 4 nations in queensland...they made an absolute fortune out of us during the world cup.

There was mention of this on another forum where it was mentioned the RFL already have an agreement with a local soft drink supplier.
Its not easy to have two different brands sponsoring at different levels.
