This would allow us to definately plan for our launch, get sponsors and players signed up and create a real buzz in the city. If they leave it till 2012 to decide then it will be a lot harder and not as well planned out.

We have a bid committee now formed and I can see us really ramping up our credentials over the next 18 months. We know we face a massive up hill battle due to Gallop and the NRL's lack of vision for the sport but we won't go down without a fight!

The first steps were taken with the launch of the Reds last year, we have a game in a couple of weeks to make some noise at and then its onwards and upwards!

i think theyll have a clearer picture of expansion when the independant report is published on Tv deal. i thinks its published next year??

How many are they expecting for bunnies game and how are ticket sales? i would like to think they can get 15000 for a reg season game considering they got 10000 for a pre-season game. A strong showing would give the NRL no choice but to at least consider the Reds.

If weather is good then yeh around 15,000 would be a great crowd.

re Tv value, it is only of no value due to Ch9's hostility to helping grow our game. Remember when 9 reckoned nobody wanted to watch Rl in melbourne, they finally showed a GF live and over 400,000 tuned in! NRL on a Sunday rated higher in perth than what they pulled it for, why did they pull it when it was rating higher?

The AFL built their TV deal on having a presence in Q'land and NSW providing additional potential viewers even though nobody watches the game there. the NRL will NEVER get a TV deal close to the AFL's until it has a national game. Gallop has admitted as much. Maybe hard for you to believe but NSW and Q'land only make up 50% of the Australian population! People in Brisbane and CC are already watching RL, Perth offers NEW viewers.

No, in many ways even better 7.30pm! I'm amazed how Ch9 slipped this past their AFL controllers!
