Anyone know what the rules are for the number of overseas or Non-Federation players in a starting 17? It used to be clear years ago but it's got rather complicated in recent seasons.

I ask since this last season we've certainly started to recruit more from down under. Last week versus Haven we had ten! Okunbor, Lehmann, Taufua, Sammut, Bayliss, Ott, Fulton, Appo, Souter and Pele in the 17.

Five of those are contracted for next year.

Can have as many as you want in the championship. Not sure in SL.

Each club is entitled to five overseas players. An additional rule for Super League clubs is that they can have no more than seven non-federation trained players.

Cheers lads. I think the key for us is not to overdo it with the foreign players. I'd like us to try and maintain opportunities for our young players. Since Jayden Myers came through last season nobody else has forced their way in at all. I think trying to bring one player through a year should be the aim.

Agreed Bullseye. To be fair I think the 4 that were promoted to the first team for this year never really kicked on and unfortunately, all seemed to pick up injuries. We also lost our two most promising ones in Lawford and Flanagan, possibly leaving a gap to the next lot coming through.

Gill, Bateman, Ackroyd look to be the 3 the club have high hopes for, but all are still eligible to play for the academy. So no rush with them. Wonder if the club feel a bit burned with what happened to Flanagan. Mom against London, went up to Barrow where they old-manned him and he really did loo like a 17 year old kid playing against men that day.

I was never convinced Flanagan was really ready for championship rugby. He looked ok in attack at times but that was it. I also think the club over hyped him a bit. Did Huddersfield loan him out anywhere? Or has he just been playing academy and reserves.

Lawford I thought was more ready for 1st team but only got picked when we drew amateurs in the cup. He's hardly played for Wakefield.

Just shows how you can't rush players in. I do have a few concerns about the reserves and academy, I know it's not results based but both teams seem to be struggling to win at all.

GF Jr has been on loan at Hunslet on/off this season. Lawford had his jaw shattered by Doro in training last year and then did his ACL earlier this year so won’t play again until 2025. He’s had some rotten luck with injuries.

James Meadows from London is rumoured to be signing with us as well.
