All eyes will be on Wakefield (those that are interested in Championship level anyway) tonight but to see the result of an ultimately pointless, glorified friendly between the Bradford Bulls and their hosts, and eventual champions (irrespective of whether they win it or not), the RFL ...sorry Wakefield Trinity.
Admittedly someone can be relegated so there is something to play for.

But when they do get promoted back to the glorious SL what then? Back to those years of table-topping glory and back-to-back cup successes?
Or being there just to be kicked about week in, week out. But the status, and all the free money, eh?
And that money reinforces the status-quo too. Narrowing the player base, limiting the scope of the game, loop fixtures with the same teams; that isn't going to grow anything.
This whole thing stinks of rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.
And without the buy-in from lower league clubs (which provide a stable and study player base) the sport will sink even faster. Instead of setting up a locked shop they should instead invest in the game. The RFL should grow a pair and stop kowtowing to the SL teams who only have their own clubs interests at heart.
I'm a little disheartened about all of this. Can you tell?
Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn't try it on.
