Just seen on the Bradford Northern Facebook group that Jeff Grayshon has passed away. Very sad. One of the best forwards we've ever had and a great captain and leader. RIP Jeff.

Very sad news, what a tower of a man a absolutely work horse, I’m sure if you walked on odsal today you would find his blood and sweat, he gave it all and some, I think it would be quite fitting to have a special memorial game ever year against his former club dewsbury who we have a great deal in common with, THE JEFF GRAYSHON GLADIATOR TROPHY,,, rest in peace Jeff thanks for the memories
Keighley had a father and son playing together against us last week. Jeff and his son Paul certainly turned out together for us sometime in the late 80s I believe, although this may have been for the ‘A’ team rather than the first team. I think Jeff was also instrumental in the decision for us to walk off at Hull KR in the days before we were the RFLs favourites! A true Titan of the club and wider game. RIP Jeff.
Truly a great Rugby League forward. I remember his time at Leeds where he literally limped around the paddock on 1 leg. However, he was better on 1 leg than many of our forwards in the 80’s on 2. Adapted his game to be more of a ball player. How he carried on so long, I’ve no idea but think only 3 men have played more games in RL history, Jim Sullivan, Gus Risman & Neil Fox. Although Fox played second row when he got older, all were backs. So Grayshon is probably the most durable forward ever and he was a fine one in his pomp. David Ward told me once that Grayshon was in tears after Leeds lost the Challenge up semi v Hull KR in 1986 because his dream of playing in a cup final at Wembley had gone. RIP to a true RL great
