So Kear seems to be still hunting a centre for the new season. I thought it would be Egodo with Cas looking to offload a few.

However I saw a tweet from a journo well connected with Widnes who stated

"Krisnan Inu has been offered half of what he earned at Widnes last season, so I am told. He's had better offer from at least one other championship club on a PT deal"

Probably putting 2+2 together but there's not many championship clubs in a position to sign him and we are looking for a centre. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Widnes by the way look an absolute shambles at the moment with their chief exec resigning (which isn't a bad thing) but then their chairman releasing a statement desperate to offload the club, its not looking great.

I heard we might be interested in Egodo but Cas wanted one of our promising young players as a makeweight and we turned them down.

We have 3 centres in the squad with others possibly able to cover at a push albeit playing out of position. I'd be minded to go with what we have unless someone really decent becomes available. Inu is alright but I can see him getting an offer from Leigh given that they've sorted out their finance issues it seems.

Widnes seem only to have 22 players names in the squad looking at their website and at least half of them are their younger players. They're going to find it tough next season.

He could just as easily be going to Leigh. They've got to get a team together, and are going PT for next year

Have to agree with Bullseye.

I accept, as fans, we'd all like an extra spare in every position on the field but, in reality, we're hardly desperate for a centre. We're probably better keeping some of our powder dry, imo and let's wait and see how it pans out when hostilities start.

True - and is it worth spending this season with Toronto in there. Although I really like Inu and think he'd be a great addition. 31 so would still be worth a 2 year deal. I trust in whatever Kear decides to do though

Agree, there doesn't seem any need to rush into any more signings right now. Kear says there are funds for one more if the right person in the right position (centre) becomes available. After that I guess it would be loan deals, a market we generally worked well last season.
How do loan signings work financially? Does the club bringing the loan player in pay his full wages for the period of the loan? That being the case, then financially it's the same commitment as signing someone on a permanent deal, only for a shorter time. Or do the "parent club" still make a contribution?

Every club that Inu has played for seemed to be glad to see the back of him. Comes across as lazy and disinterested, especially when things aren't really going his way.

I'd rather switch Hitchcox into the centre and bring in Grant or Foggin-Johnson on the wing

Still. Egodo would be a better option, and there's time for that to be ironed out yet...

Half of what he was on last year might still be too much for us, but you never know.
When he first arrived at Catalans he was a real handful and looked very classy. I seem to recall him picking up a bad injury though and he wasn't really the same after that.
His spell at Widnes has not painted him in the best light. I agree that he looked very disinterested during his time there. But then, who didn't? How do you keep yourself motivated and your effort levels up when your team is losing week in, week out?

A new environment at a club with a positive dressing room atmosphere could be just what he needs. If the price is right I think I'd take a punt on him.

At the right deal for us, Krisnan Inu would be a good signing. Experienced Ex Test player, Good player. plays all over backline, goal kicker.

Needs to be fit and motivated otherwise could upset the apple cart.
