Like the look of this kid. 3 games, 4 tries. Played well in all of them.

Interesting selection dilemma for Kear. Does he stick with him for the play-offs? He's certainly performing better than Garside who did nothing today. Obviously don't want too young a squad as we know what sort of tactics we'll have to endure.

Matty played really well today and was a stand out performer alongside Brandon Pickersgill. The game against Oldham last week was a grubby affair so I'd be tempted to go with experience over youth for this one.

I'd certainly consider keeping him in the 17. Played very well today.

So long as he doesn't put a half back and a winger on the bench!

He's got a good chance both this season & next with the current mix of senior back row men we have. Really only Minchella and Garside are definite selections these days in that position. Laithwaite is injured and on loan. Wood is on loan, as is Johnson - who is currently injured as well. Who else plays back row? - Milton is used as a 13 generally, Hallas swaps into 13 as well sometimes. Oakes is playing a bit of 2nd row these days as well. But without some signings, Storton is in the frame. and his performances might mean we don't prioritise his position for new signings. That's what the academy is for!

Pollsters doing Excellent job - say recent polls.

I’ve been impressed with Storton’s steadiness considering his inexperience. He’s not looked out of place at all. The best bit was him backing up Lilley and Pickersgill to score yesterday. Young players often aren’t able to read the game as well due to lack of experience but he did and he was the only one on Pickersgill’s shoulder. He showed impressive pace to get there. His second was decent too and showed he’s got good footwork and composure. John Bastian said he’ll get even better with a good tough pre-season behind him too. Given our lack of backrow options he’s come through at just the right time. With Laithwaite’s re-signing not confirmed and not knowing if we’ll offer deals to Wood and Johnson he’s in the box seat for a place in the 1st team next year.

Was also impressed with how strongly Olly Wilson took the ball in yesterday. He’s another with a bright future. How good is it to see the U19s coming through? Shows that all that investment is worth it.

I suppose it begs the question, were they both bloooded too late. They could have played more games against the lesser team and gained valuable experience without leaving us in a situation were we were ever likely to lose

I guess we'll never know. Sometimes it pays off. I remember in 1998 when we had a massive injury crisis and had to give debuts to unknown kids by the names of Deacon, Fielden, Peacock and Pryce. Whatever happened to them?

He needs to play for me. Has grabbed his opportunity and earned his spot in the team for me.

There is one thing that this kid has and its timing. You can't teach that at his age which suggests he's got very good natural talent and will only get better.

One to keep (in the team this week and beyond).

Don't think i'm biased...
