| Signs for rest of season..from T&A
Versatile winger Jonny Pownall has joined the Bulls for the rest of the season.
John Kear swooped for the 26-year-old from Toronto ahead of the transfer deadline.
Pownall, who spent five years at Leigh before joining the Wolfpack, has recently been on loan at Barrow in the Championship.
Kear said: "We are really pleased to welcome him until the end of the season. We realised that through injuries we were lacking in the three-quarters, as well as competition for places.
"He suits us down to a tee as he can play fullback, wing or centre and obviously his proven experience at the upper end of the Championship is an added bonus."

| Any winger that is better than Grant is fine by be.
Nothing personal against him but he's just not good enough. For me he's the weakest link in the side.
That being said I'm not sure how comfortable I am with all these loan/duel reg players. That must be 8 now

???
Really don't see how you can arrive at this point of view at all.
The weakest link in the side, really?
He is so starved of any ball thanks to playing outside Gibson that all he can ever do to get into the game is run from dummy half every now and then.
Grant used to score tries for fun when he was at Dewsbury and to be fair he's scored a decent number for us this season. He'd have a lot more with decent service.
Out of all the areas of our team, our wingers would probably be the last place I'd be looking to work on. We have far bigger problems to sort than our wingers!
Pownall will be here to play centre.

| By far the weakest link for me is Kirk. Good bloke but never breaks a tackle, very rarely offloads. We should be seeing some improvement by now but it's just not happening. I would like to see Andre given a chance.

The Giant? Probably hard to put down, but not the most mobile. Especially having been dead for 25 years.

| Hope Pownall goes well for you if he gets a game.
O/T Thanks HC for pointing out (on another thread) that not all visitors are trolls.
Another win for you lads today. It's looking like we may be facing you in the Championship next year - if we still exist!
Curiously, the Beeb webside has Skolars down as fielding two players wearing 4 and two wearing 6! Was the mum that washed their kit this week drunk? Doubt it would be on Skol!
Good luck for the last few games.

I trust Kear’s judgement more than yours. He picks him pretty regularly. As did previous coaches ( both Academy and senior grade)
Obviously as a young prop he is nowhere near the finished product but I’m confident he will develop. At the moment he’s a workhorse who misses very few tackles. Kear always looks to defence as his first priority.

I admire your optimism but I'm not convinced. I hope I'm wrong because he gives 100% effort every game.

| Kirk suffers from being not really big enough for prop nor fast or elusive enough to play elsewhere in the pack. For my money he's a good prospect; let's not forget he's still very young and has a good bit of timber to put on before being fully 'equipped' for the prop role. He has all the right instincts though and is pretty fearless he just needs time, games and experience.

Kirk reminds me of a young Kopczac. Similar build and style at a young age, the older he got the better he got and developed into a good front row forward. We should give him time and in Kear`s hands he could not have a better tutor, he loves his front row forwards.

| I think people misunderstand Kirk's strengths. Someone mentioned he's a workhorse, and that's exactly why he's in the team. He's not expected to be the big barnstorming prop who knocks defenders off left, right and centre. He's not expected to be the one who ties up 4 players and offloads to create space. He's the workhorse, he's the tackler, the one with the high carry stats, the dependable one who's still hitting the ball up when everyone else is a bit knackered.
I'm as guilty as anyone for criticising him in the past, but when you watch what he actually does, as opposed to what he doesn't do, you get why coaches keep picking him.

Does that mean you expect him to leave before the end of the season.
