For any rugby league fan looking for a nice Christmas present for under £10, the novel "Three Good Years" comes highly recommended (by me!). It is set between 2006 and 2008 with the two main characters both Saints fans and is set in a fictional town called Ashurst which is roughly three miles east of St Helens. It has a background of Work, Family Life, Saving the NHS and Rugby League and is inspired by the old saying about work that "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller" with stories based on when I was a draughtsman at BICC at Prescot until 1965.
The publisher is London League Publications. Visit them at
