Are we doing a Wigan/Bradford and descending so far down the table that the RFL has to send out a search party?

Tonight was the worst display I've seen in many a day from a Saints side. The most depressing aspect is that Hull were utter rubbish as well, they dropped so much ball in threatening positions and made so many mistakes that any normal side would have beaten them. In previous years under previous regimes we always overreacted to poor displays because we were frustrated that the performance wasn't there but the talent was. Is that still the case? Looking at the sides tonight and I don't think we can say it is. We're no better than Hull FC and probably one or two steps behind them. They've got much, much better forwards, halves are rubbish on both sides and their backs are better as well.

We're going to have to really put a shift in to reach the top 8 this season, we've got no divine right to be any higher and it's going to take an enormous improvement for us to trouble the top 5 this year. After the next 4 games I reckon we'll be more than 2 points adrift of the top 8 and we're not going to win many away games this year.

So the question is, when does Royce leave? Is there any point sacking him now? He's clearly not the right man, but could anyone do sufficiently better with the playing squad we've somehow managed to assemble to make it worth paying Royce to leave early? Or do we just let the team drift through this season and start again with a new coach at the end of the year?

I dread to think what the scores will be when we start playing the likes of Leeds,Warrington and Wigan.

I've no doubt Wigan and Warrington will be 50+.

Warrington in particular could get very excited and take out 15 years of frustration on us.

What is our lowest finishing position in the SL era? It must be in danger this year.

No, not at all. We've never been this poor during Super League. In a month we'll be outside the top 8, which after 10 games is absolutely staggering for Saints.

Tomorrow evening you'll be in 9th. I don't know about staggering, but as soon as Salford get a nosebleed from their height in the table I expect you to be back in there.
