Once again Simmons fails to use all 17 players.

If he did not feel that Wheeler was ready why on earth pick him in the squad?

It's one of a few frustrations I have with Simmons. It is a complete waste of a sub spot and it makes me think that he only trusts using certain players within his side, especially when he used Clough for just 6 minutes last week.

It's a pet hate of mine and I think i post at least once a week about this. I just don't understand the reasoning of it. Especially when we've got players out injured meaning the likes of robes, jammer, sia are all playing with pain killing injections. We should be trying to spell these players during the game.

I also think the back on the bench is a waste of a sub as these days so many players are multi skilled and cover many positions.

Next year he will have to stop playing the back on the bench as were going to have Clough, Perry, Pelutua, Roby, Lafranchi, Soliola, Flanagan X2 Wilkin, Moore, LMS and I think it would be pointless having a back on the bench when you could have all forwards and keep them all fresh!

I think Wheeler was a genuine sub last night (as opposed to a tactical interchange). That is, I think he was there solely to cover for any potential injury. There was nowhere to use him. Where we lack players now is in the forwards but we don't have any left as they are all sitting in the stands.

What would fans have him do? Sit a rookie big bloke from the u20s on the bench for one of the most important games of the season just so they felt better about who is on the bench?

Silliness.

He could have played Wheeler!

Then there are other guys in the squad who are not injured. If you ain't going to play the likes of frodsham, forester,
greenwood, when we have a lack of forwards, then it's just wasted money and effort putting them in the squad.

I think Royce is a little risk averse, to the point of adding extra risk to those playing with injuries. We know why he does it, but there are other options.

The problem tho my sweet, we are at a disavantage due to the other team having 17 players. In the semi final we went with 15 players for 65 mins and then brought Gaskell on fir last 8 mins. Even if we had a fully fit team we still need to spell players like Graham, TP, roby, sia and lms to get the best out of them. IMO they all play to many mins.

We can't put a back on the bench just in case someone gets injured. We have multi skilled players that can switch without any problems.
