Right pardon my ignorance, but whats the score with this legendary after hours venue? Last I heard it was shut indefinately? Anything changed?

Eeee when I were a lad and lived in St Helens, Applebys was the place to be. Wasnt a saturday night if you didnt see Gary Connolly getting tw@ted by some random st helens drunk

fantastic meat market in its day - especially when you look at the alternatives now panamas - chicago etc.

fingers crossed the new applebys - imperial - looks like taking on the mantle.

Had great hopes for the redone cinema but that will remain one of the great mysteries.

Aye its been shut for a while.

Speculation suggests the deployment of "security personel" who didn't have any papers.

After all the disciplinary dished out for serving minors, the whole "bouncer" situation appears to have been the last straw.

The fellow who owns it (his name escapes me) is now apparently unable to get a licence for either building, hence the delay in anything getting done with the old cinema.

No, their designated premises supervisor resigned after getting a ticket for using unregistered door staff and you cant sell booze without a D.P.S., thats all it is, as soon as they get another they will reopen and theres nothing to stop them.

He either ran out of money or wouldn't open it as it would have killed off any business Nexus got are just a couple of rumours I heard.
