Could even get the bus from Thatto Heath station and get off at the Bird, only down the road from there. But yeah, probably only about a 15 minute walk from Thatto Heath station, straight forward too.

AFAIK the Saintsbus service between Lea Green station, St Helens Bus Station and Knowsley Road will be the same as last season but the link is old,from 2006 so phone Merseytravel on 0151 227 5181 and check it out. I would of thought that there would have been something out about it if they had cancelled it and a lad i know who uses it said it was quite popular so cant see any reason for them cancelling it.
If you find out maybe you could post it on here?

The Manchester trains don't go through Thatto Heath IIRC, it's a different line.
Best bet is to get off at the Junction and either catch a bus (there are a load of bus stops wihtin the station grounds) into town and then one up to the ground or get the 35 (alternate ones go up to the ground), or just get a taxi from the station that'll cost you in the region of £5 to £6.
I'm not Jesus Christ, I've come to accept that now.

Indeed, it's on the Liverpool to Wigan line. To get from Rochdale to Wigan, you still have to change at Manchester and if you were going to do that, you may as well go to St Helens Central
Union is played by people who close airports after a bit of snow, League is played by people who would go and have a snowball fight with a 747

Called in this morning to check on the Saintsbus service and they say its been scrapped or at least nobody has heard about it so they assume it isnt running this season.
If anyone needs service bus info then they suggest:
Friday
121 service - every half hour or so
eg leaves St Helens 700 arr KR 710 or 732 arr 745
return 1030, 1055
Saturday
35 service (stand 4)every 20 mins or so
eg leaves 436 arr 445
