Hopefully pretty good, one of the major factors in being granted permission was that public transport had a significant role to play. While my college course is done with I have too much time on my hands so... compare these distances with the familiar walk to the train station from the DW in Wigan, this is about 1.2miles.
Mostly edited from the official development travel pan, distances approximates using a walking map site:
Trains Central Station 0.7 miles (Wigan, Liverpool, Warrington [via Wigan])
Junction Station 1.65 miles (Liverpool, Warrington, Widnes, Manchester, Yorkshire [via Manchester])
Lea Green Station 1.60 miles (Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester, Yorkshire [via Manchester])
Pre kick off trains, departure / arrival times (based on arriving in St Helens 7:15pm Friday for 8pm KO)Wigan (Central) 18:08 - 18:25 or 18:24 -18:39 or 18:35 - 18:55
Warrington BQ (Central, via Wigan) 18:50 - 19:25 (time exception as easily walkable)
Warrington BQ (Junction, via Newton-l-Wil) 17:49 - 18:29
Warrington Central (Junction, via Liv Lime Street) 18:03 - 19:14
Widnes (Central, via Edge Hill) 17:58 - 18:59 or (Junction, via Liv Lime Street) 18:11 - 19:14
Leeds (Junction, via Man Victoria) 17:08 - 19:08
Bradford (Junction, via Man Victoria) 17:31 - 19:08
Post hooter train times departure / arrival times (based on Friday 9:45pm) Wigan (Central) 22:11 - 22:28 (be a rush for this one - the next one is 23:30!)
Warrington BQ (Central, via Wigan) 22:11 - 23:02
Warrington BQ (Junction, via Earlestown) 22:40 - 23:47
Warrington Central (Junction, via Edge Hill) 23:09 - 00:16
Widnes (Junction, via Edge Hill) 23:09 - 00:06
Leeds (Junction, via Man Victoria) 22:40 - 00:55
Bradford (Junction, via Man Victoria) 22:40 - 00:34
Some of these times are a bit disappointing, I'd hope for some better scheduling on matchdays in the future.
Buses Central Bus station 0.8 miles (Wigan, Warrington, Widnes, Liverpool etc...)
Car Parks - Free after 3pm every day (not public transport I know)
Chalon Way 0.5 miles (90% multi story)
Tontine 0.6 miles (100% multi story)
Birchley Street 0.9 miles (100% street level)
CoachesThere is provision in the travel plan for supporter coach parking to go on phase two of the site in the short term, this should allow ample space for all coaches to be parked up on site & within 3 miles (all dual carriage way) of the M62 which will be a great improvement in convenience for most SL teams.
and for Two Wheeled Saint
Push Bikes30 ‘Sheffield Stand’ cycle parking spaces, to accommodate 60 bicycles
There are also plenty bars/pubs/food outlets within 0.5-0.75 miles so all in all a pretty good location, with the vast majority of links within 10 mins sensible walking pace, even the Warrington train stations are within 20-25 mins walk and with luck there will be some cheap match day buses from these (if the organisers use their noggins).
