anyone remember these guys? i went along to see them in edinburgh in 1989 on the back of a lot of hype at the time and they were pretty good live - they had a couple of eps out at the time i think. they did a couple of excellent albums and looked like the real deal but circumstances like inter band jealousy, battles over who was writing the songs and the rise of oasis did for them, and their last couple of albums were poor. i always thought they had a bit of unfinished business but not sure whether the time is right for them now. still they will be shoe ins for most festivals next year. any hardcore ride fans out there? |

I saw them 3 or 4 times and have their 1st 2 albums (Nowhere, Going Blank Again) in the loft somewhere. By the time I caught them at Glastonbury (probably around '94) they were losing it, and didn't have the ability to evolve their music. I would probably go check them out if the tour came near East Yorkshire, but I wouldn't travel too far to catch them. Meh. |

Nowhere was okay but pales in comparison to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless - both records came out round about the same time and are rather similar stylistically. I have little interest in the return of this band! |
