This one totally passed me by, so I've just started catching up on Netflix.
Fantastic looking (in so much as the industrialised slums of Birmingham can look fantastic) and really well acted for the most part. A pretty bleak study of post WW1 British gang culture; with Commies, Gypsies and IRA men thrown in for good measure. The story focuses on one family/gang - the titular Peaky Blinders - led by the main character, played by Cillian Murphy; he's a brooding mess of PTSD, resentment and risk-taking, with an opium addiction to boot.
I'm liking what I see so far and whilst it's not on the same epic scale as some US tv series, it's really well done in almost every aspect; my only struggle is that for a show based in, and focussing on, filthy, poverty-stricken slums, everyone is remarkably sharply dressed and coiffed.
Still - enjoyable stuff and certainly worth a watch.

Same with Ripper Street, they all have immaculately whitened teeth.
