Back in the late 80s it was not unusual for my local cinema to have somebody employed by the cinema to sit in the audience - any messing about was not tolerated and you were quickly warned and then shown the door should you be spoiling other peoples enjoyment of the film.
Nowadays I know we get warnings on the adverts about turning off mobile phones but do cinemas need to do more about people who spoil films?
I no longer go and see films on the opening week of release and now enjoy nothing better than waiting a few weeks until it gets quiet and I know i will get value for money as its not unusual for people to now spend a minimum of £20+ at the cinema.
I hate the modern multiplex for this reason - at Cineworld, they seem content to let people behave however they want and if you complain, they just give you a refund; that's happened to me on numerous occasions.
Back in the day, smoking aside, cinema behaviour seemed much more well managed; I can never understand why people would pay a tenner to see a movie then talk all the way through it, but talk they do - I guess it's not the treat that it was when I were a lad.
I wish I had access to an independent cinema locally but alas, I'm stuck with the multiplex - so, like the poster above, I tend to let the initial hubbub of a new movie die down, then go to see it at an anti-social time; if nothing else, it's a good way to make use of the otherwise redundant man-bag the Mrs got me for Xmas - ram it full of spogs and a can of pop, to avoid the highway robbers at the concession stand.

I go to the cinema a lot tbh , im even going tonight at 7.45 to the worlds end and im in scarborough on a little break . I have this conversation all the time about code of conducts at cinema . It really comes down to repsect or lack of with most people . I turn my phone sound down when I sit down , I even try to eat food that is loud ie crisp n nachos before the main film starts . My biggest pet hates at pics is when people start clapping during the film (this isnt america people ) Forget complaining and just stand up and warn the idiots spoiling the film for everyone else , most people in the cinema will back you up I would have thought
Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand Workin' in the dark against your fellow man But as sure as God made black and white What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
The cinema I go to is brilliant, I haven't seen anyone younger than myself and everyone knows how to behave.
They don't even have people checking tickets, everyone's trusted.
