Disappointing news that Rhyse is leaving and seems to be going to HKR.

I'd like to think there is a master plan. Time will tell.

its an effing joke and shows how far we have really fallen , our best player all season and we are unable to keep him , yet have wasters taking up a large portion of our salary cap .

We seem to get outbid by a number of clubs either that or we just go for the cheap option bar Croft and Ackers.
Burgess, JWH, Thompson were 3 players we should be going for.
Fitzpatrick we didn`t offer enough apparently and now Martin who wouldn`t count on the overseas.

Don't disagree that there appears to be a trend here. Not saying we should throw daft money around, but the names above would be a huge upgrade on what we have, in areas we clearly need, but we appear not to have even been in the conversation. I'd like to think Blease will change this.

Sad to see Martin go but our pack needs a complete revamp in physicality, and while he's a very good player, the one thing he lacks is size.

Tom Burgess would not be a huge upgrade on anything but the catering budget. He's been awful this year for Souths, and playing far fewer minutes than he used to. Maybe he'll get a new lease of life in SL, but he looks shot to me. JWH will either look a genius signing or one of the worst ever. He'll need to tone it down in SL or he'll spend long periods suspended. Neither were available this season anyway. Thompson might have been a miss but I thought his defence in the NRL was awful, and I wouldn't throw big money at him.

What we need is the kind of forwards that Leigh and others have picked up, not big names as such. Like Lisone but bigger and better. Hopefully Arthur will know players that fit the bill.

When the rumours of Martin moving on first started all the talk was about him joining the potential PNG team in the NRL and while I would have been really sad to see him go I couldn't really knock him for wanting to do that, then suddenly all these rumours about other SL teams and the whole picture changes. So either he wants out, we're not offering appropriate deals or we're just not interested in keeping him - whichever of those is true it's a real shame and there definitely seems to be a bit of a trend. Sad to see him go and more so to another SL team, I hope we find someone to take over the kicks who's even close to being as consistent as Martin's been for us. He's so good it's hard to remember just how abysmal we were at conversions before he took over - the amount of points we'd leave on the field was crazy. Whatever's gone on and whoever's motivated the move Martin's been a brilliant servant to the club and wish him all the best wherever he does end up

Hes been Mr reliable for the club and obviously keeps himself in shape a true professional add to that his fantastic kicking he's probably the first name the coach pencils down for game day ,personally I'm not sure his decision to leave is based around money I think he became disillusioned under the Smith tenure a massive loss for the club.
