The Great Super League Conspiracy
I enjoy conspiracy theories.

That is not to say I often believe them but there is a pleasure to be taken in their complexities and contortions.

What they tell us about their proponents and how we all look for patterns in the chaos can be interesting too.

For example, I tend to believe that the works generally credited to William Shakespeare were written by him (with caveats around widely accepted collaborations).

However, that many people prefer, and sometimes make quite compelling cases for, other authorship candidates reflects the evolution of the concept of authorship, differing attitudes to class and formal education, the phenomenon of bardolatry, and the unevenness of our historical record.

Do you want a real conspiracy?

The RFL don't want us on top of the pile anymore, you'll see the same with Saints in a few years mark my words.

Giving us unexperienced match officials that do nothing but hinder our gameplay. Wakefield have been utterly dreadful all season and all of a sudden manage a victory like that? Not having it, something is amiss.

The RFL certainly want a league that is full of equal strength clubs where anyone can beat anyone, and the top 3 or 4 clubs don't win the silverware every year. Why wouldn't they? And isn't this the exact purpose of things like the salary cap?

But to say that they are conspiring against Leeds and Saints (whose fans constantly remind us of conspiracy theories against them), is a little strong.

We lost against Wakefield due to faults and issues of our own. The RFL didn't have a hand in it. We have injuries, a squad not deep enough to replace players efficiently, a lack of decent play makers, no leadership. questionable coaching, and something clearly amiss behind the scenes. That's all on us.

Or are you suggesting that the RFL have bribed or blackmailed the Leeds players to throw the game?
