Post subject:  Are our expectations to high?

I have often thought Leeds have won the big through sheer will/desire to win rather than the actual quality of the team. Was the overall team greater than the sum of its parts and has actually over performed in the past? Take out the gel that brought it all together and what do you have - a group of players who are not actually as good as some of the other teams?

I didn't go to the game last night so I cannot comment on that specifically but of the games I seen - virtually every other one - the players don't appear a lot worse than normal - problem is they have either plateaued, in decline or simply not good enough. Only Handley and Lilley looks like they are on an upwards curve.

Plateaued - Hardaker (let's be generous), Hall, Moon, Briscoe, Cuthbertson,Garbutt, Singleton, Ferres
Decline - Burrow, McGuire, JJB, Ablett, Delanney, Galloway
Not good enough - Achurch, Falloon, Mullally, Sutcliffe (to debate)
Enigma - Watkins

Given the majority of the team are unlikely to show an improvement on last season and a good chunk will show a regression why are expectations so high? If you don't develop the youth or bring in quality all that logically happens is you stand still at best more likely go backwards.

It could argued it isn't McDermott's fault - he is on loser from the start - the fault lies with very poor planning from the CEO?
