How long before we see David Furner's new scrum move attempted in SL? Although it was overplayed by Canberra it looked like it could work (over here) especially if it was tried in a non televised game. That'd be piss funny to see. |

Canberra put Carney from the wing to the base of the scrum to collect the ball from the feed. The front five then cleared a path straight through the centre of the scrum (North/South) allowing Carney a clear run to the line as the Parramatta fullback was up around the defensive line. It was hilarious and they might have got away with it if it hadn't been for the pesky video ref (Russell Smith?) Think of Moses parting the Red Sea and you've got it. The commentators said they hadn't seen it attempted since the eighties. I couldn't remember seeing it ever. |

It was and rightly so. As every game down there has the video ref it's unlikely to bear fruit, especially when the obstruction was so blatant as Canberra overplayed the move. Over here especially in a non televised game (with a Ganson in charge) it could be a winner. At first viewing it was difficult to appreciate how it opened up so easily but it all became obvious (all too obvious) from behind the sticks. David Furner's assistant at Canberra? One Ian Millward. |

Is that the same as Pink Floyd's 'Wall' move? Canberra's director of coaching - Malcolm Clift. Although you really need David Ward orchestrating for full comedy effect. |

I remember someone trying to explain that to me at Leicester Tigers once. I think it was that point I decided Union was the most complex game known to man. |
