Anyone spot the interesting use of these two by Mclennan in the first half?

I noticed Danny trying to get in to dummy half position for Diskin to push him out of the way!

Well done to MHL and how typical of Tony Ferrino to have no clue.

Buderus was operating at dummy half on the left channel and Diskin on the right and each operating as a runner when the other was at the ruck.

Very interesting use of them, though not sure I am a fan.

I guess when the full 17 are fit they will be rotated.

i'm not so sure, i think they'll use it all year. they did the same with macca last week, and seemed to play with the idea in some of the warm up games. depending on the opposition, they won't both get as much game time as they did tonight.
but i for one think it could be very good, both are good defenders, diskin doesn't look out of place playing second row (haven't seen enough of buderus there to comment yet), easier on both players as they half the work in attack so can stay on the field for longer and makes it harder for teams to defend against*.

*with most teams you only have one main dummy half on at a time, so the defence knows what they'll likely to be up against, makes it easier to set up a defence for it. where as leeds now have two main options at dummy half, each with they own style. so the defence now has to work out which hooker they're against every play, and what said hooker is likely to do (as they nothing stopping leeds changing which side the players attack down, or even just ever so often one of them coming randomly across to the other side)

diskin has played 2nd row/loose before a few times and i guess it was needs must last night. i wouldn't expect it to happen much when everyone is fit

I liked the fact that they mixed it up and I'm sure when Buderus is firing on all cylinders this will cause other teams problems.

He showed glimpses in the 2nd half. He reads plays much better than Diskin and he has such a smooth passing techneque. Diskin looks more of an attacking hooker with ball in hand and likes to take a few metres to suck in the markers before passing. Either way Leeds looked much more fluent when both were on the field. Add Sinny, Burrow and Webb and we will be very dangerous this year.

Was also good to see Buderus get stuck in with the tackles after such a bad injury to his arm.

I'm sure we'll see more attacking options from Burderus as he gains in fitness and confidence.
