Why does the Sky commentators make out like the World Club Challenge is the biggest thing ever. Is it so people will actually tune in a watch, because nobody ever goes to the games, and the Aussies don’t care about it. Apparently Manly are going to trial Tony Williams, a centre or winger, in the second row in this game.
And you never hear about it in the Aussie media either. I remember in 2003 seeing one (and one only) back page article on the fact that the Roosters won it in the NRL 2003 preview mag. Never mentioned during games, did not see a TV news report on it either.
Is the importance of the WWC one sided, why do the Sky commentators care about it so much, and why do the Aussies care so little?
Lets just be logical here, I’M GREAT, end of story.

The competing clubs care about it as it is a significant money spinner for them.
Quote:Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.
The WCC, CC and Hubcap are all very nice trophies to be picked up, but I would readily accept losing all 3 as long as Leeds win the Grand Final in October.
The season starts in October. Until then, don't panic!
