Plenty of people rubbished the Sam Burgess appointment and while inspirational leaders on the pitch don't always make good coaches they took a chance and it looks to be paying off. They have a coach in place for next 2 seasons and a chance of silverware this year. In terms of Leeds we have minimal cap space and no available quota spots and a coach at the moment till the end of the year. Let's give Blease the benefit of the doubt at the moment and see what he comes up with. We essentially have the money for 2 players and if he can twist Garys arm one needs to be the second marquee. No point diving in to try and rescue a season that is probably gone better that we get to the best place we can be for next year
We should have the money for three or four signings, depending on quality.
Fusi and Martin won't have been on cheap deals and both occupy a QS ( atm). Add in Donaldson, Roberts and tbh Hudson. Does Hall get dispensation on SC for being academy trained?. Either way he won't be on much, just a stop gap to cover fusi while the academy lads transition to first team. Didn't we also lose Myler late in 23'? .
If we only have cap space for two mid level signings we are in a very bad place

Hudson is contracted until 2025, Corey Johnson is out of contract though and of course we won’t be paying Olpherts to play for wakey next season. I think Hall will still be on a decent wedge.

I think we should have room for three, given that we have also parted with Olpherts & Myler. Depending on how ruthless the post mortem at the end of the year we might choose to pay off a couple of contracts, which is a costly business to the club but doesn’t count in terms of the cap. It never seems to discourage Wire.
The cap mystifies me, I thought you could not pay people off early to stop clubs fiddling it but could be wrong. I think clubs should have to publish details whilst protecting players identity.

Hopefully we have space for 3 signings but personally I think we should be focused on 2 top level guaranteed starters who are either a good age looking to provë themselves like Amone or if top level forwards over 30 from NRL are good pros with a fitness level thats not going to fall away quickly. Not too many ' impact ' big unit impact props play high level into their thirties. If we are going to potentially pay good money on a second marquee we should be looking for a pack leader who will give us three good years. Easy to say it but not as simple to get the player.

I think we should shut our eyes and pick a few more random 20 year olds from the championship and hope that works out. Coupled with a few from the NRL with a dozen first grade games between them. Add in some contract extensions for the bantam weight middles and terminally crocked and we should have enough to secure seventh place.

Quoted directly from Gary's business plan..
Spot on, a perfect recipe for confirming our status as a mid table side. Add to the mix Smith an absolutely useless coach. On the plus side of things we have an excellent ground in which we can observe the mid table performances.

Crikey.
Anyway glad Knight isn't coming to us, wouldn't have been too worried about a few months to bolster the pack but he isn't the quality of player I think we need.
I've been banging on about this but what we lack is quality, it's abundantly clear. I'd much rather we signed 2 outstanding players who could be part of a champion side, than four squad players. We literally don't need them, we have reserves and youth players coming through and they need a chance. McCormack, Edgell, Lumb, TNW etc haven't let anyone down have they?

If we got a top quality prop and back rower that can bend the line and then try prise Eseh from Wigan I'd consider that a good job/ shoukd move us up the table.
I just hope we don't waste cash and quota on backs or hookers

We need a big prop to come in for Fussy and a big 2nd row to come in for Martin. We really then need another solid first 17 prop. After that, it will be depend if we release anyone i.e. Frawley, Momo and Miller.
