If nothing else it could force the issue with Moon, either get him to resign (in which case we dont need Tomkins) or admit he is going back to Aus, allowing us to start looking for replacements.
The club probably knows exactly where they stand with Moon, won't need to inquire about Tomkins or anybody else to do that.
With Tomkins usually moving into the halves mid game then they could fit him and Hardaker into the same team and the Hardaker's rumours have gone pretty cold and even some have said the deal is dead on the Wigan board.
With him turning 30 at the start of 2019 and opting for Catalans with how poor that club is right now, again it speaks volumes. Look at what some of our guys achieved post 30
