New Zealand Demolish the Leeds Rhinos In World Cup Warm Up
New Zealand warmed up for the World Cup with a Bartercard International Challenge against Super League Grand Finalists Leeds Rhinos at Emerald Headingley.
The two sides last met in 2015 as a warmup before New Zealand played a three match test series against England. On that occasion the Kiwis ran out as 34-16 winners after leading by 10-6 at the interval. On the score board for Leeds were Joel Moon with two tries and Tom Briscoe with Jordan Lilley kicking two goals.
The bookies had given the Rhinos, and their returning guests, a twenty-four point start on the handicap coupon, even without a host of Grand Finalists who were rested ahead of the opening World Cup fixture.

No one was expecting to get close but even so that was dissapointing, struggling to think of someone who stood up well, Walters probably, did himself proud.

Not sure why we even played this game. Frankly a bit disrespectful to NZ to send out patched up/made up side. The whole thing struck me as cynical attempt to con the fans out of some cash and the lowest crowd of the season shows that the majority saw through it. I go back to 82 in terms of Leeds playing touring teams and it's the thing I miss most from the winter era, but I can't do with these over promoted friendlies and would be really annoyed if any of our players had suffered a significant injury tonight. While I'm being grumpy I'll also say that I wish they'd ditch the Boxing day games too.

You’ve got your wish as there’s no Boxing Day game this year
