We didn’t need to sign a winger, we needed to keep a decent fullback and sign a better hooker and halfback.
Yep. And we need to sort those 3 positions next season without fail. Lisone looks very unfit to me… hoping he improves soon
In terms of positives, obviously it was an improvement. Macdonald was good, the odd rust error aside. Sangare has done what he was brought in to do, which is add impact, and I thought Cam Smith and Holroyd were good too. Holroyd will definitely improve with more game time too. I thought Fus continued some good form especially in yardage.
Negatives, well all the tries conceded were soft. Handley makes a wingers attempt while in the centre and Sezer makes a god awful read on the Sutcliffe try.
We bombed so many chances, but they were all off individual broken tackles or a bit of add lib (the smith break aside). It still looks like we don’t have a clue in good ball, short of give it sangare on an edge. I’d also be interested in how often we get a good set outcome like a repeat set or finish on our terms in good ball, because it feels like never, and that to me lies firmly at the feet of the spine players.

Some of the rhinos fans near me were an embarrassment- calling for Rohan Smith to be sacked and booing. Get a grip
Hugely frustrating that we didn't make the most of three big line breaks in the second half, but the effort was there. Some of our most dangerous players made some of the most costly errors. Swings and roundabouts I suppose. Could really do with Newman coming back and staying fit. One of these years we might actually start a season with a few wins.
Myler - Just a plodder tonight Fusitua - took his try well but soft as $hit Macdonald - good going forward, couldn’t tackle a good Sunday dinner Handley - not a centre, end of story Olpherts - terrible Austin - great hands, couple of mistakes but tried to make things happen Sezer - if I never see him in a Leeds jumper again I wouldn’t lose any sleep Holroyd - Excellent Leeming - not good enough Tetevano - crap but had a decent first 20 Gannon - meh Martin - didn’t see any ball Smith - very good, makes things happen even if he looks like he’s running in quick sand
O’Connor - steady Sangare - very good again Lisone - fat Donaldson - trier but crap
