Losses are never fun but at least they make sure we all remember that there are glaring holes in the squad that no coach can fix. The defence can definitely be worked on - we got rolled easily by Warrington last week and we need to do better, or decent teams will take us apart no matter how fluent our attack is. To be fair we were lacking two of our best backrows, but our lack of grunt up front will seriously inhibit our chances in a lot of games.
There was some improvement in the second half, but it’s clear to see that works still to be done. Also didn’t help that 3 of our most consistent performers this year in handley, Martin and Donaldson were under par-as most were tbf.
I’m at a loss with Tet and Prior atm. Prior looks a shadow of his former self, despite trying hard, and then Tets first stint was just so ineffectual (thought his second was marginally better) and both of them are effecting Mik because he’s having to attempt to do so much.
As good as they were, and as poor as we were at times I actually think the game swings on a couple of interceptions, not in terms of result but in terms of being a tight game. Im a way it didn’t reflect how poor we were, but IMO shows some improvement because earlier in the season I reckon that would have been a 50 point drubbing. Its just a reflection of where we are atm.

Prior has been a really good signing for us but this is a season too far. He’s not the type of prop we desperately need, and in typical Leeds fashion of recent times, he’s under contract for next season too. I’d be looking to pay him off somehow.
We need at least 2 dominating props to come in. Warrington are in the same boat and have been proactive, we just paddle along hoping things will turn out okay. We’ve been in this predicament for around 6 years. It’s unacceptable

Agree with this. We’ve missed Ava since his short stay. Prior May retire at end of the season in which case we need 2 more some would say 3. I’d be surprised to see Tetevano ask to leave early go back to NRL but the salary cap down there is about £5.2m to our £2.1m, so who knows if a team offer him a 2/3 year deal.
If both Prior and Tet go again next season we will need Holroyd to really come on and and add a 5th prop of some quality.

If I was getting the chequebook out then I don’t think we’d go far wrong with Wilson from the giants, thought he was the best prop on the field last night. High impact and meter making paired with a high workrate. Exactly what we’re missing.
Did someone say Priors missus is expecting? I’d imagine that could play into any decision if I’ve not just plucked it out of thin air.
I just worry that GH message on being behind with recruitment was getting the excuses in early. Smith only needed to watch a couple of games on tape to identify the glaring weakness in the front row.
The front row is definitely a problem, but most of the Giants' tries were scored through poor edge defence on both sides of the field. That can be fixed, particularly if we get Gannon and Bentley back in the line. Lack of oomph just comes back to lack of big forwards.

Couple of problems with that Gary doesn’t like to get his checkbook out- he relied on Leeds winning to be able to recruit players. Why would Wilson want to leave Huddersfield- with the best coach in the SL - to go to Leeds? He’s only 23 - still a lot of improvement in him yet so hands off!

Oliver is the best young prop in SL - he is in the perfect set up, great coach and the best conditioner in the league. Could be a surprise call up for England in the WC if Wane can get past his Lancs. bias.
Huddersfield are a top 4 side and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the GF - we were poor but they made us poor.
