I'm sure Myler likely would have been paid more to sit in the stands but has chosen to take a slight reduction to continue playing and to possibly extend his career beyond this coming season.

Well reading Mylers comments he said Leeds wanted him to stay so he was clearly in our plans along with the new signings so there's definitely further questions needing asking of the club as to how we have supposedly spent up..

How is Myler backing his ability? He's dropped down a level to semi pro. That's more like admitting he can't cut it at the top level any more. If anything you could argue that if Olpherts stays to fight for a place he's the one backing his ability.

I'm sure Olpherts would prefer to be playing every week, but he's got very little to gain beyond this contract. After this season no SL side except maybe London would sign him as first choice, so its reserve at Leeds, reserve at another SL side, or the Championship. The contract after that, aged 33, will be a big downgrade on the current one.

I don't blame him in the slightest for insisting that whatever happens he can't be worse off than if he sees out his Leeds contract. Its not his fault Leeds signed him, and he's got his whole life away from RL to think about.

No idea what he is currently on. Say he is on £70k this year, he could sit in the stands and get no meaningful offers for the 2025 season as he may have barely played SL rugby for two seasons, or he could leave now and possibly get a two year contract at £50k a year.

Obviously, I have no idea what he is on or what he might be worth now nor do I know the type of person he is and what drives him. There a reasons why he would want to stay or why he might not want to leave. Guess no-one will ever know. The point is, opting to sit in the stands might be good financially this year but not for the following years, likewise, he might be on such a good salary now that it would not make sense to leave unless his salary could be matched elsewhere which means him leaving is very unlikely.

If Olpherts thinks he has a chance of a starting spot at Leeds, then he is the only person on the planet.
Quite honestly he will struggle at most top championship sides, hence why there's currently no takers.
Myler will be first choice at a good championship side.

Both in the last couple of years of their career.
Who would want to sit in the stands watching your career fizzle out, knowing you've very little chance of getting a game - especially if we sign Kershaw.
I know which I would rather do.

No idea how the club are viewing his progress, but he's done couple of really up beat interviews with the YEP and the Mirror. Attitude seems right.
