Blease may want to assess everything before making a decision, and as much as it may anger some fans that’s probably the best thing. Starting a job on Monday and sacking people doesn’t look like any in depth analysis has gone on.

That was my first reading of the Blease appointment.

Sacking RS on day 1 would imply Blease had made up his mind based on a largely external picture, perhaps embellished by insights from GH and the two ex-Salford players in the camp. Alternatively, it might imply that GH had already made the decision for Blease, which begs the question why GH doesn't just fire Rohan anyway. If the latter happens, it would arguably create more turmoil and make the job of Blease harder in the short-term, IMO.

While the Hull game was a major disappointment, and may be enough to trigger the departure of RS irrespective of further investigation, I suspect that Blease will want to be thorough in appraising Rohan's contributions and deficiencies, if only that it gives Blease a better understanding of what is needed to turn things around - whether this is playing staff, coaching staff, or wider environmental factors, or most likely, a combination of all these things.

I think the plan was announce Blease, beat Hull, Leigh and London and stumble on for the rest of the season while a new coach is found. We were so awful against Hull and every chance of another shocker on Friday that everything has to be accelerated. With another 2 week break upcoming I'd expect something to happen next week and hope for respectful atmosphere on Friday regardless of the performance.

I'm hoping the delay in the inevitable sacking of Smith is due to the desire to be able to announce a successor at the same time rather than piddle about with an interim. Can things actually get any worse?

Looking at who else is missing against Leigh then the answer is quite possibly yes, it can get worse.

Not to play conspiracy theorist - but I will anyway - I wonder if some of the 'missing' players just don't want to play for Rohan? Who knows how toxic it is around the club now.

That's a ridiculous, baseless assertion.
The player group is a lot less toxic than the fan group, that's for sure.

Id be amazed if it’s as toxic as a section of our fan base.

It’s like a modern day witch hunt at the moment

So we need to put RS in a tub and see if he floats? Can't hurt

It would only take a look at the video of the Hull game to sack Smith , I am already wondering if Blease is the right man for the job if he has not sacked him yet .

I agree that people should put the sh** show to one side for Robbie on Friday and people should control themselves but it wont just be them to blame if they do not as G.H will also be responsible .

If he had sacked Smith as he should have after Saturday then that would have solved the issue for now
