That depends if the visa is needed to register the player's contract with the RFL.

It must be nearly 5 months now - the season will be over before he arrives - are we paying his wages during this period, is that what the £1.50 visa fee, I mean booking fee is for

(as a new camera appeared over night, or police never normally have speed trap on the road you was on, or even just that you have a 5/10 seconds lapse in concentration which lead to you going over the speed limit)

with out knowing details of eastwood's speeding offences, you can't comment on his stupidity

p.s.
i've never had any speeding convictions :P 8)

I've only had one speeding ticket in over 30 years.
To answer your 1st commen I would class myself as stupid & be bloody annoyed with myself for being caught again because of the impact it could have on the costs of my car insurance.
Even more so since with sat nav you get advance warning of speed cameras, fixed & mobile and round where I live I know the usual spots that the police tend to use.
The issue with Eastwood is that Sporting Life alleged he had a string of speeding convictions, at 21 for goodness sake.

Quote:where, from information available to the Immigration Officer, it seems right to refuse leave to enter on the ground that exclusion from the United Kingdom is conducive to the public good; if, for example, in the light of the character, conduct or associations of the person seeking leave to enter it is undesirable to give him leave to enter.

it seems these would be the grounds under which he has been refused if its for driving convictions - how would speeding come under these rules when Brits are not locked up for speeding

anyway, I doubt we are paying him, if he doesnt have a work permit it is illegal for him to work so he cant be paid

so if the police decide to move to a different position one day, which just so happens to be a spot where your day dreaming for 5 seconds. thus catch you speeding by 5mph, you'd class yourself at stupid? and not unlucky that you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

sidenote:
baring in mind the chance of killing someone at 40mph, compared to 30mph. don't you think that going 10mph over the limit should be a bannable offence!
do you think the police/courts let you off with points & a fine because they're nice, or do you think that they give you (up to 5) chances because they know that its better to concentrate on the road ahead & know that with in the space on 10/15 seconds its very easy to be going 5/10mph over the limit with out noticing

how long is a piece of string ?

just in case you don't get my point, you can't get a number of offences from "a string of speeding convictions." so for all you know he's only had 2 or 3 convictions, of which he could have been unlucky for all of them.

If Eastwood applied for a British Passport and recieved one, would that entitle him to work here or would he still require a work permit?

Woody: Can I pour you a draft, Mr. Peterson?
Norm: A little early, isn't it Woody?
Woody: For a beer?
Norm: No, for stupid questions.
