Mixed bag for koni in their friendly with Leigh it seems. Red wee posters saying good go forward, missed 3 or 4 one on ones first half and slow for a threequarter. Early days though.

Created a try and cost us a try. I think saying he missed 3 or 4 though is harsh, his opposite, Nene Macdonald was easily their standout and would have caused anyone trouble. Was strong going forward and was a thorn in Leigh’s defence. It’ll be really interesting to see how it plays out, with Hopoate likely to start on the wing with Grace out, it’s a three way battle for the centre position for Hurrell, Simm and Davies.

We've watched Konnie for 3 years and what you get from him is exactly this: diamonds and rocks - most games.
He's also injury-prone and you wince when he goes into contact at times. Devastating in the right conditions though.
He is pure box office though and certainly an entertainer.

Sounds about right - he's not going to suddenly fix all his deficiencies in one off season.
Don't re-write history. He was in the Dream Team for two of his three years at Leeds. But his underlying problems - most of all handling but also problems with confidence when things go wrong and struggles with fitness - will remain unchanged.
"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

He'll do well if used sparingly. We used him badly in the end and just gave it to him hoping he'd smash his way through 4 defenders every time. Definitely looks leaner. But still shot the line for Cats try.....

Yeah well surmised. Such a shame he wasn’t in great condition for us, but lockdown certainly didn’t help him…. Didn’t he loose his mum too? A lot of sympathy my end……

I knew you would be on this road, had an agenda about Hurrell for ages. He looked decent in that first half for Saints, he hasn’t done anything outrageous just done what he did at Leeds but from a better starting position on the pitch as he is getting the ball from lomax after runs from Makinson, Percival, walmsley. For me he isn’t who you want as a first choice, as a luxury player then maybe but for every good thing he does he will make an error. We as a club and team need to be more consistent and for me he isn’t that player
