Some of these players will have been listening to McDermott for almost six years now, in some cases the whole of their professional careers. When you're hearing the same voice telling you the same things day in, day out for that long, does it blur into background noise after a while?
While there's very little scope at the moment in terms of leaving players out, does that also cause players to lose focus slightly knowing that no matter how much he might shout and bluster the coach isn't going to be able to drop them for the next game because he doesn't have any alternatives?
There's a reconstruction job needed at Leeds, both on and off the field. Maybe the best person to do that isn't one with links to the past, in the way that Tony Smith was able to come in and look at Powell's side without any emotional baggage relating to certain players.
It's a fair point and if we keep seeing what we have seen so far, it's almost a certainty. Ultimately, I retain hope that either Gh has a good half lined up for next year or is working hard on it. In terms of players, 1 to 5 are all keepers for me. McGuire and burrow have 1 year left, both have been great and I would keep both, with burrow off bench and keep sutcliffe, then add 1 top half next season. In the pack, it is more difficult, a few months ago I would have thought letting JJB go was the right move but he has amazed me with his come back. The bit I don't know is can you pay others off? I think it is hard to judge some fairly against current situation. Guys like Ferres may not actually want to stay unless things improve. Whether McD can still take the squad with him remains to be seen, I have faith that Gh will make correct choices.

A straight swap would be a giggle.

Will your list be based on form and performances this year? Problem is the transfer value of the likes of Watkins, Hardaker, Sutcliffe, Singleton, Ablett and Hall must have plummeted by now.
Perhaps under a new coach those values can rise to the appropriate levels? One thing appears to be the case they will rise under the current coach
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Or not rise as I suspect you intended to say - although far be it for me to put words in anyone's mouth.

I seem to recall that the performances in Bluey's last season were very poor. But you are proposing sacking the Coach of the Year in the middle of the season following the historic winning of the Treble. Nice reward! But I commend your consistency of calling for his removal in every year since he came.
RHINO-MARK wrote:In terms of certain players you've mentioned PMSL they have a much longer shelf life than any Coach especially in SL but othes such as Burrow Achurch Delaney arent having the impact we need in terms of their standing within the SC. Then we also have the likes of Galloway/Falloon who have been average at best thus far so a call needs to be made there.
So are you saying Watkins, Hardaker and Hall are having the impact we need in terms of their standing within the SC?
RHINO-MARK wrote:As a side issue id also say we need to get on board with the reserve team venture which will require another Coach imo & give regular RL for those fringe players not playing on dual reg nor u19 RL.
On a second team with its own coach we can agree!

Way OTT i gave him plenty of credit as i have players for our success'. Re-Blueys last season this one is worse even when you consider everything is that or should it be acceptable? Your blind faith may happily accept where we are & the impending middle 8's campaign but imo with the transition as big as it is proving to be i think its a valid time for change. Nice reward? No just a timely evolution of a RL Club wanting to maintain its top 4 status challanging for trophies he's had his time imo & i stand by it. Re- The players you've listed all are good enough & young enough to easily recapture their respective form & should be integral to our re-building plus none carry the injury baggage.

Mcdermott has been with us 6 seasons now its a hell of a long time for a head coach at one club. Nobody will ever take away what he has achieved and he will always be fondly remembered for it, but imo all he can do now by staying is tarnish that legacy he has. This season is gone now bar CC, its the perfect time to move into a new era, and that is coming from someone who has always backed Mac through his wobbles in years gone by.

It was a voluntary tackle.
