You're right about the free ticket, both home or away, but I'm with you, I've no idea what would happen if we got a game at a small ground. Are they allowed to switch it to Headingley? Even then, with hardly any walk-up fans paying at the turnstiles, the "home" team could end up losing a lot of money.
