Rohan seems to want this squad to organically develop it own ethos, leaders and style which is why I think at the moment we are so hit or miss. The problem we have is the leader part just isn’t coming on at all, players looking for someone else to say something, do something or organise something and it’s so obviously our Achilles heel.
My twopenneth on Newman is the only way he’s going to learn is that he’s going to have to go through it and he ran the full gamut of that yesterday for all the good there was bad, hopefully there was a frank conversation after the game in house but the only thing we can do now is move on.
That’s not how I felt at the time admittedly but after I’ve calmed down and dust has settled that’s all we can do.

Some young players have that naturally rugby brain, and just know when to make a pass. Others have to learn it, despite all the talent…..

Like I said great break by Newman but he bombed it plain and simple almost like he did for the first try that he got lucky with. Olpherts a waste of space and Gannon since Smith and the coaching team have worked on his tackling technique seems to have lost impact. MacDonald played far better when he was fasting!
Just as well we were only playing a very average Leeds side then eh?

I would say we are slightly below average. But like I said 14 nil up at home against an average Wigan side missing some decent players and we should have won. And if you think that was a good Wigan performance you are deluded.

The better team won on the day, no question. We're a decent side, nothing more at this stage. Some semblance of consistency would be good to see. Consistency allows progress to be measured and action, where necessary, to be taken. I'm sure it'll come, and Rome wasn't built in a day. But it was built.

I said a couple. It can be done, because other teams do it, don't they? Or am I missing something? Of course, when I say good players I don't mean Segayro and Hardaker, your two perennial candidates for a return to the glory days.

I thought we were decent in the second half yes but more dogged and committed than good. So if you are below average, how do you beat an average side? Your original point indicated you should be beating a side like Wigan when the Leeds one isn't all that good either. We all want a return to the glory days but financial constraints and the rise of the NRL's millions makes it very difficult for now (And they still don't have a better WCC record despite all their posturing) Iv'e embraced the fact that without Wigan and Leeds in particular constantly churning out youth then rugby league would be dead in this country. The rest of SL needs to up it's game. Wigan, Leeds, Saints and Warrington are propping the game up in this country. The problem of 'average sides' (though i am quite happy) isn't the fault of Wigan or Leeds.
