Myler might be perfectly happy playing a bit part, he’s not getting any younger and it might prolong his career a bit, unless someone offers him a good deal mid season that is.

I still don't know whether Eseh would be the better signing, so we have Lisone, Sangare, Holroyd, Mik and then Hudson and Eseh putting pressure on them, plus whoever is coming through the academy. I know we saw Tom N-W debut against Cas and he didn't let anyone down, but realistically I don't see anyone from our youth system being ready for first grade for another year or two. If we can't find a senior prop who can do some damage in the middle and offer something better than we already have, maybe a more raw option which will allow us to put money elsewhere.
We could probably sign 3 Sam Eseh's for one Ryan Sutton. I do think a Burgess type signing would be mega for us but is it possible?

Pure speculation on my part. I hope stays all year, because he provides great cover at fullback if A) If Miller is injured B) If we move Miller into the halves because one of the first choice lads is injured.

I'm not convinced he's worth the cap space when we have Edgell and Lumb waiting in the wings to come through myself.
But Myler is a very solid and experienced back-up FB if we can afford/justify it.
I want to see us sign McDonnell to a longer deal, with us re-signing Bentley I really don't want to lose McDonnell, he deserves a starting spot for me and is the better and more consistent player of the two.

He's had a great year, but I don’t think we need to be upgrading and extending contracts too soon. That's how we got ourselves in such massive bother with the cap. Let's see how he goes in his second year and make a sensible offer on the back of that.

If we let this run on someone else will take him 100%. He’s been in the best 2-3 players of the entire squad this season it’s not a fluke in my view.

Yes, but there's no rush is there? Start talking to him early next season and get it done midway through the season assuming he's showing the kind of form he has this year. We're in the box seat and other clubs can't just come in whenever they want. Arthur's right about us offering deals that were way too long to players in the very recent past. If he's looking the business again in ten games I'd be happy to look at a 3-4 year deal then.
