Smith confirms Harry will play and pretty much confirms Mellor won't due to selection.
Again, I feel sorry for him facing these journalists, some of the questions and how they're asked are truly awful. Worse still that Martin Sadler joins the call late and repeats questions that have already been asked.
Huddersfield have hill, Yates and fages missing, but even missing those plus greenwood and Wilson still managed to match Catalans pack last week. Be interesting to see how Watson goes in the halves as he has a dilemma with cogger and pryce playing really well in France- but Russell now also in the squad missing out last week. We don’t usually fare well against teams who play an expansive game so be an interesting match up.

It's an intriguing one. Last time out a Leeds team missing all it's cutting edge really should have got the win and Hill, Yates and Fages were all playing that night. That said, you were the better team against Wigan and backed it up with excellent result in France. Wonder if you can hit the same level of performance three weeks in a row? If so, I suspect you'll win. If you are a bit flat I think we'll get the points. I'm away on hols and gutted that I can't make it. Suspect it will be a very good game.

Should be a good game, but I think Leeds will be bit too much for Hudds as Final and Cats game will have taken a lot out……

Watto rested a few last week though so not convinced that’s the case- greenwood, senior, golding, Wilson, Russell all missed the game in France last weekend who played in the final, English and Pryce were fresh, last week as they had missed a few before that, of those that stepped in and perhaps likely to feature again. The team will be refreshed and rejuvenated- and there is a really healthy competition for places at the moment- it really is difficult to call who should play out of the named squad- and difficult to believe how some players don’t even get in the 21 like O brien. We are even saying at this point Pryce might not feature on Friday! it’s our first game back at home since the cup final - it’s our homecoming- and we don’t play at home again until 29th July so they will want to put on a good show. I don’t think fatigue will be the sticking point.

Fair play . I’m genuinely pleased to see the Giants go well and just wished you had been a bit more positive in that last 20 mins if CC…….

Disagree. Players move clubs, they’re professionals and will give their all regardless of where they’ll be playing in 2023. Whether or not a player is contracted or not for next season shouldn’t come into the selection criteria, pick the best player to do the job and get the win, end of. Walters may end up a better player but right now I’d say Mellor gets the bench spot.

If we were talking a top drawer player I would agree, but at this point I don’t think the drop off from Mellor to Walters or O’Connor is that great that it wouldn’t be outweighed by the experienced gained by picking them over someone average like Mellor.

We need to pick the best possible players we can. We’re 3 points off a play off spot, this isn’t some pre season friendly.
....and Mellor isn't Gorden Tallis. He's a blah second row, a position we have lots of options in. Walters may or not make it, but we'll never know if he doesn't get a game. And I think it matters a lot if Mellor is leaving as this year is all about finding out who can and should form the basis of the squad next year and beyond. We need to know if Walters is going to be part of the future or to move onto the next youngster after him.
