I think Schofield could be the new Donald Trump, some people think he's very controversial but he talks a lot of sense.

I think the majority on this forum can't stand Schoey so they'll disagree.

Perhaps I should set up a poll?

Schoey was simply my childhood hero! Met him a bunch of times and was awesome with us kids.

In my twenties I thought he was a bit of a dick. I just thought his rent-a-quote style was BS.

At the 2008 WC in Aus I was around him in pubs. I sat there in a Youngers shirt and didn't talk to him or get a photo.

I don't have many regrets in life but really regret that. The next time I see him al be buying him a pint.

I think Schoey struggled post playing career, but IMHO has come to terms with himself.

The new world and Schoey have collided as the podcast/YouTube style radio suites Schoey down to the ground. I love what he does and you can see the champion bloke that he genuinely is.

His honest forthright opinions are totally refreshing. He puts it out there, if he gets is wrong he holds his hands up. It's all from the heart and that's how he played the game.

What he offers in honesty and humour (mostly at his own expense) is a million times better than the total f*cking bilge that Sky, the Beeb and main stream media generally offer up.

In the same way honest, truthful non agenda driven discussion makes Super League pod & This Week in League light years infront of any regulated content.

If you don't listen to either of the pods mentions or RLonRY give em a go.

Here's to honest opinions dilivered from the heart. With plenty of laughs along the way.

Haven't watched/listened yet but when Schofield was on Premier Sports' Backchat recently he highlighted Huddersfield as being a disappointment in 2016 and didn't really comment on Leeds which I thought was a chance missed.

What was Schofield's record as a coach btw?

Thanks for those tips.

I've done a search and found the links to those podcasts and will check them out.

I wasn't even aware of the Yorkshire Radio (RLonRY) efforts until earlier today when I saw a link to it, watched it, chopped it and then posted a link at the start of this thread.

All good stuff.

Like you, I'm tired of the Sky crap along with the tedious sycophantic offerings from local media and RL publications who, I guess, dare not rock the boat too much since RFL advertising accounts for a fair wedge of their turnover.

Has there been a sea change in here? I'm sure this forum was chocka full of rhinos fans who had nothing good to say about Schoey. Where are they all? Apart from TheBudgie that is :)

Schofield doesn't say anything surprising. Caplan OTOH is in cloud cuckoo land.

I like Caplan, he's a good bloke, I think he is perhaps adding balance but it does sound very average when you hear it outloud.

Personally I don't want excuses. The only way out of this is graft.

Caplan has aspiration at being a journalist - like Peter Smith in the YEP they have to tread a fine line or the club will make it very difficult for them to do their job. Caplan has just become an apologist for the club in the hope of greater access to further his journalist aspirations

Schofield was quite right when Caplan mentioned about the training facilities - other clubs can perform without such lavish facilities and more pertinent the rugby union side don't appear to be struggling despite not having access to the very same facilities.

Caplan has never been the same after he questioned McDermott on his substitutions during the Cas game when Sinfield got sent off.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

What Schoey made clear though was that the problem was down to the players themselves and that they should stop sulking and look at themselves in the mirror.
