I think the majority on this forum can't stand Schoey so they'll disagree.
Perhaps I should set up a poll?
Schoey was simply my childhood hero! Met him a bunch of times and was awesome with us kids.
In my twenties I thought he was a bit of a dick. I just thought his rent-a-quote style was BS.
At the 2008 WC in Aus I was around him in pubs. I sat there in a Youngers shirt and didn't talk to him or get a photo.
I don't have many regrets in life but really regret that. The next time I see him al be buying him a pint.
I think Schoey struggled post playing career, but IMHO has come to terms with himself.
The new world and Schoey have collided as the podcast/YouTube style radio suites Schoey down to the ground. I love what he does and you can see the champion bloke that he genuinely is.
His honest forthright opinions are totally refreshing. He puts it out there, if he gets is wrong he holds his hands up. It's all from the heart and that's how he played the game.
What he offers in honesty and humour (mostly at his own expense) is a million times better than the total f*cking bilge that Sky, the Beeb and main stream media generally offer up.
In the same way honest, truthful non agenda driven discussion makes Super League pod & This Week in League light years infront of any regulated content.
If you don't listen to either of the pods mentions or RLonRY give em a go.
Here's to honest opinions dilivered from the heart. With plenty of laughs along the way.
