Ive said this before and I've heard Brian Carey mention it on a broadcast but Luke Walsh is the worst defender I have seen and if he were a young English player he'd be dropped.

I was taking to a saints fan yesterday and he seemed to think that most of the issues with Walsh weer actually Turner being the poor one defensively, with him regularly leaving Walsh with numbers over to try and tackle. Having not analysedit I just accepted his presumably more informed view

Another poor showing from him on Friday, 8 tackles made....4 missed. But his HB partner Burns wasn't any better with 17 made but 6 missed. The young guy they had playing loose forward Thompson missed EIGHT for a team total of 46 missed tackles. It seems throughout their side actually.

Saints are 4th for most missed tackles in the league. The other playoff contenders are 9th Leeds, 10th Hudds, 11th Wigan and 12th Cas.

A pal of mine is a Saints fan and he puts it down to injuries.

However, he is soooo bad so consistently that I don't think t can be excused away with Turner, injuries or any other excuses. He simply cannot tackle.

Possibly the downside of having a huge pack? A bit less mobile and so the gaps are that little bit bigger.

Not sure, they had pretty much the same team last year and were 10th on the list.

Perhaps more to do with the new coach as Nathan Brown teams always seemed solid defensively. Interesting to read the Saints board ATM. Quite a few not happy but restraining themselves of being too critical of Cunningham based on his status at the club but clearly they aren't happy with the way the team are playing especially in attack. Perhaps a good sign for us not to throw any of our legends in a coaching gig before they've gone away first and gained experience lower down?

Turner's habit of blasting out of the line on some plays and not others doesn't help, but Walsh is ridiculously easy to put off balance with a bit of footwork.

Possibly similar to the Powell position here, the departure of the previous Head Coach elevated him to the top position too soon.
He's not been helped by injuries to key players nor the previous regime's recruitment policy.
