The thing that disappointed me the most about the tackle, was not the shot at Carlaws jaw, rugby league is a contact sport and you expect the odd stray arm, but it was the fact he jumps into it! That, to me, shows an intent to hurt the opposition seriously, which we can do without!

I agree with the physicality but its the polite advice Mr Westwood offers after the event. It is completely unneccesary and lowers the game to that of thuggery.

I bet the home crowd loved it and if Barrie McDermott had done it to any opposition forward then so would we have.

You telling me that the home crowd loved Westwood giving what appeard to be a fairly aggressive mouthfull to a man who didn't know what day of the week it was. Now I know we have some sub human supporters of the great game of rugby league but I refuse to belive that any of them went to the pub and said
"you know What I realy liked in that game was when Westwood hit that bloke, not the contact but he really told that bloke what for"

For me it was the gloating after the hit that was really bad. Boots n All showed sanitised versions of the incident tonight - they didn't show the full face on version of Westwood gloating over the top of the player.

And thats my point. To be fair you put it better than I did.

Got to agree with Cala, the fact he jumped into the tackle was the worst aspect for me. It's a tough game, there are going to be high tackles occasionally, most of them accidental, but jumping and swinging his arm like he did shows a malice and an intent to hurt the player. Thats not necessary.
