I can't say they are not playing for the coach.
I can say that they are poorly coached and have been all season whoever has been at halfback.
I can say that we have no leadership on the field
The season is done and I'm no longer sire I would want Smith in charge next season.
I realise I am in the minority but I would have Powell in a heartbeat

Me too

It did not make one iota of difference , that performance unfortunately is how poor we actually are .

We’re talking about today,!!

Not just Austin, Myler too!!

We can talk about squad building after the season, my point is get behind the young players, give them the energy of the south stand they deserve while they learn their trade

It may well have affected them, anyway, I’m not arguing about it as it’s pointless. That’s me done for the evening.

It’s likely they’ve been unsettled all season, due to Austin.

As soon as he cut those locks and went to a blade 1 you knew it was game over.

Positives from today. McDonnell, Hooley, it didn't rain. There's a lot of work to do before February.

Been away for a few weeks and missed today and I’ve no inside information but things feel badly wrong at the club.
Leeming, our only spine player in his prime asking to leave early in the season.
Walters, a young player with a lot of upside who can do things few players can, signs for Wigan as soon as the window is open and now in the week our full back is ruled Out for the season, Hetherington exits Austin , who has offered more attacking threat than anyone else this year.
I know Austin gave a dumb interview and embarrassed GH but that goes to the heart of the matter. Players now do not respect GH in fact I think they probably hold him in contempt. See Walters. We tried another lowball offer and he was gone.
So far we’ve only signed Goudemand, another plodder.

The Leeming and Walters exits both seemed to take Smith by surprise and don’t show any evidence players want to play under him.
On here a few comparisons are made to Tony Smith but he looks quite different to me and much more like his old man who had a capacity for falling out with players. I can’t imagine many players want to play our one man out attack and passive defence.

In short I think it’s time Caddick stepped in and told GH to stand aside from the rugby operations and show some real intent and get a quality Aussie coach in. The one area you can improve quickly is head coach and there are no salary cap restrictions.

Put £500k a year on offer and get a class act.

I think we need some drastic action as I genuinely believe GH is now a significant liability to recruitment and just viewed as a tight old bloke.

We’ve had one top four finish since 2015 and are a mess.

This sounds like a repeat of what has been said for the last 6 years... and i totally agree with you...

The club be constantly in a state of "rebuilding"

I personally think the club needs new owners. Caddick and Hetherington did a great job in rescuing the club from going under and subsequently they managed to build a sensational team over time. But that time has passed and for the last 5/6 years have brought in too mnay average players which hasn;t been helped with covid or those players geting homesick.

A new perspective on playing matters is required and the coach should be at the forefront of those player signings, not the CEO who is after bargain players rather than quality. Some of the signings for this season are just not good enough.

The players who are OOC come the end of the season should be released and i would have added Martin to that list. Other than kicking not sure what he offers, other than the odd sparkle and backing into tackles. Bentley has gone down hill and not sure what he offers to the team.

Many ask if Smith is the answer as coach, think the jury is still out on that one.

Maybe being satisfied with that performance is where we are as a club? I also find his comments baffling. Clearly he watched a different game to everyone else..

At the end of the day you need more win than losses, and unfortunately that is not the case for this club.
