They had three props out last night and personally I think Smithies will end up there too.
I know generally their front rowers are a bit older, so maybe he can see a way through that way, but on paper it doesn’t look like instant guaranteed game time to me.
He is simply not good enough, not played well enough when given game time, a big lad who had struggled to step up to open age, its ok saying he’s a great prospect but at 22 he’s still essentially a reserve player. Cannot see him doing much at Wigan championship std at best. Don’t consider him for selection again now, lets look at others next in line.

I think this is harsh but I do agree about not making him available for selection
I thought he could develop into a really useful prop and offer something different with his offloads I think Wigan have done good buissness but time will tell.

It is harsh and for the record i would have given him more game time and 1 more year but nothing more beyond that at this stage, but he’s the same age as Holroyd and only 2 years younger than Okedski and both are light years ahead of him at the same stage, and Gannon better already even younger, McDonnell slightly older and way more developed, yes players develop at different rates, but 22 going into 23 and he looks more like a 18/19 year old in development nit a super league player. It may work out for him at Wigan but I suspect he will at best a squad player and only get in slightly more than here.

Agree, just on Gannon, I think we forget how young he is, he’s an immense talent will be an international in the next year or so.
