I asked you when Wigan last produced an international prop. You didn't answer.
The pissing contest is over all right. It barely began.
And whilst you may not rate Bailey or Burgess they certainly handed your shower their arses last Friday. When will these two young lads from your Academy be signing for Huddersfield?
I think the word is 'owned.'

I dont think wigan can be criticised for producing youngsters; but their fans should be for their patience with them.
I remember a few years back when Leeds where always the also rans a lot fans getting on the teams back - don't those people look silly now.
If all clubs had chairmen and managers who were as patient and believed in youth as much as Leeds have the last few years, the England team would be in a lot better position.
Fingers crossed, teams have learnt from Leeds recent success and will follow suit. I think the new rules regarding home produced players will work towards this, but I do think they need to be tightened regarding where players can travel from. Leeds Wigan and Saints do seem to sign up a lot of youngsters and let them go, maybe they'd get more of a chance at other clubs to develop? Not blaming the clubs mind.
Anyone else think home produced players U23 should have some kind of exemption from the salary cap? Maybe only half their salaries to count?

Aye. Been saying that for ageas.

Shame the boys inside the JJB didn't ey??? That way you may stay within the cap.
On a more serious note though I think its a genuinely good idea. It will encourage clubs to bring through talent and it would surely do the England/GB teams a world of good.
On a possible negative however it may mean when players become 23+ there released due to clubs not being able to afford them or rather there not wanting to give them a 100% salary rise. Would be a good thing though.

Because we comply with the salary cap. But that wasn't your question was it old bean, though I can understand why you're trying to change the subject.
Your question was............
Quote:Who was the last decent young prop produced by the Leeds academy system?
....and I think I more than adequately answered you. Of course, none of the players I mentioned have quite hit the heights of O'Carroll and Prescott but maybe Wigan's record for producing quality props is something Leeds can look to emulate.

i think you will find almost total agreement at Leeds, Bradford, Wigan, Saints, Hull etc for that, problem is some clubs self interest and short term thinking would leave them uncompetitive, at a club like Hull KR or Wakefield you would be asking turkeys to vote for christmas

Definitely think there should be some form of incentive, yes, but the flip side of that is that you then free up cap space for more journeyman non-GB qualified players to fill out the rest of your squad. Saying that, I'm sure there's a way around that.
However, your point on Kylie then shows what's wrong with the British game, why don't we make 'em like that? Maybe we do, but with the wrong ethnicity some clubs aren't giving them the chance to show it?
That's not a dig at you by the way, it's more an observation on the way club administrators are thinking.
