winning like never before. decoys. mouse traps. chicken wings. lollie pops. shepperds. the crusher. grapples. big league. In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

We'll probably use a few more brain cells than you guys, if your guys think like you (hope not!!!!). We'll hit hard and fair and enjoy the piggyback up the field from your penalties. Oh and I hope you like the rain.

Last year there was much talk about the game it importance etc, this year look at the build up - no players featured in the game in Florida, only half a side in the testimonial - neither of the overseas players have seen the light of day - in fact one hasn't even seen the UK!!
Contrast and compare last year's build up with this - very different level of intensity perhaps they are not trying to peak for March, August and October this year just August and October
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

I think it hard for us to judge the intensity of the team. From reports in Florida they have been hammering it in training to get in the best possible shape. That sounds intense.

I dont think you can judge how seriously the club are taking the WCC from those things to be honest. I would imagine most of the players who didnt play in Florida or in the other pre-season games were part of the World Cup, and the fact that Buderus is injured and Eastwood hasnt got permission to be here yet isnt something the club can control.

The club could have sorted Eastwood out with a simple visa - last year there was much more focus on the WCC - I don't see any talk/promotion etc about this game coming from Leeds.
I would expect the CC to be a big priority this year - but time will tell

To be honest I don't care how much we talk up a game or talk it down. I take nothing from it, either way. We are a professional, title winning, team and I'm sure behind closed doors we act as one. So I only expect we are as intense about this WCC than any other one. And you haven't offered much to suggest that we are being less intense. I'd rather produce a good game than talk one.

maybe leeds thought they were on the ball, and knew about visa changes and that they are harder to come by this year (crocker is yet anything player who's been turned down, celtic still waiting on 8/9 players). so thought that the passport route would be quicker/easier

It doesnt appear that the VISA is route is simple though, plus if he's entitled to a British passport I think it takes him off one of the quota places though I could be wrong about that.

There may be slightly less promotion of the WCC this year but I wouldnt say a lot, there seems to be something it in the local papers quite often and I've received quite a few emails and leaflets in the mail about it.
