I wouldnt say that Newman is that much better than MacDonald, has potential for sure but a lot to prove.

No one wanted him in Aus came to championship club who didn't want to keep him we give him 4 year deal he's ordinary at best when you think of Godden, Blackmore ,Innes,Senior not even as good as Iro who was crocked.

Half of super league is ordinary if you compare them to players of the past

Also Leigh did want to keep him but they had too many overseas players.

If they rated him that highly he'd be still there its that simple my point is that the club no longer have the lure of attracting bigger name players or willing to pay either so that's where we're at 4 years I'm sure he'll bag a hat trick to celebrate.

Iro wasn't 'crocked' at Leeds. He played 124 games in about 4 seasons for us and played 3 seasons for Sts three years after leaving Leeds. On his day he was awesome. On others he was very average.

I couldn’t care less what Leigh think of him. He’s out player and can be a game changer, so worth a long deal imho….

It's not that long ago we used to be among the top table sides but not at the moment Catalans, Saints, Warrington, Wigan all have 3 or 4 game changer player's we don't have one and yes I don't think the club have been very smart with recruitment hopefully that will change soon.

All 4 of those clubs would want MacDonald in their team at centre or winger.

Going off this weeks teams, he’s better than Thornley, King or Miski at Wigan, Hurrell and Bennison at saints, Russell or minikin at Wire and either centre at Catalan

Yes out recruitment hasn’t worked out great recently but it seems to be getting better
