For me Mellor was a strange signing at the time as we had plenty of options at 2nd row and Mellor didn’t seem to add anything different to what we already had.
Didn’t look the same player for us as he was at the giants..but there again that’s not the first time we’ve had that with ex-giants signings

I'm with cheeky, Mellor was a bit of a head-scratching signing at the time. He should be at the absolute peak of his powers but he's behind Bentley, Martin, Gannon and seemingly Thompson as well.
He won a Challenge Cup though, and good luck to him moving forward.

Smith has indicated that he wants to work with young players and have a smaller pool of older experience within the group. We have too many squad players in the late 20s early 30s bracket and as such its a good move for all parties. Mellor will get game time and it gives more opportunities for Walters and O connor without weakening the squad. Also puts some cap back in the pot for next year possibly covering the Sangere contract.

It doesn't make sense to offload players if we are not bringing anyone in, however, I understand Broadbent is recallable if required?
I get the feeling from Smith's interviews if your not here next year then your no use to me.

Neither both injured I think
Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.
