I think his offensive game will develop. Seeing him in the academy there was no question of his attacking abilities but more of his defensive. He seems to have answered them for me now. He does need to now work on his attacking game but I think it is as much to do with Leeds tactics rather than him not having the ability. He isn't often the focal point of a planned move. He is at a great level for 20 years of age and I'm sure will develop into an all around great player.

From an outsider, I saw a lot of videos of Goulding in his academy days and his attacking prowess was his major impact. (forgive me if thats wrong though) I see a lot of people talking about his defence and not getting involved i attack. Rather than him not getting involved is it more the way McDermott is asking his full back to play? Looking at how hardaker is playing now he didnt show much of the passing game at your place. Happy for Goulding got backed with the number 1 shirt seems a good character to have about the place and will have the club at heart

Mistakes are an absolute no-no for a youngster in the team, highlighted even further at fullback.
I would agree his more conservative play is indeed coached and is an effort similar to the rest of the team of safety first, or as safe as it can be for Leeds.....

I don't feel optimistic he can be the long term fullback that is needed. We all know how many tries he has saved but that is one of his main jobs. We can't be waiting for years for his offensive game to get better, we want to be trying to win things now !! If has no contribution in attack it's going to limit our chances of being successful.

good news that we are tying up young players, cracking player, people getting on his case , he is 20 years old debuted at 18 and is now a regular and developing superbly, everyone praised his attack , but criticized his defense, but now its the other way around, he has obviously worked very hard on that part of his game, and i am sure his attacking skills will improve season on season. of course even if they don't who cares. some of the est full backs in my living memory were not great attacking players but were the best at being what they were the last line of defense. Keith Mumby Steve Hampson Gary Jack. etr. this modern fad of playing a half at fullback will eventually pass somewhat.
however he is a good attacking player and it will come through. but give the kid a chance this is is first year as first choice fullback.
