Apparently we (Salford) have signed him for 2 years in a swop with Mr Boyle (late of your parish) What's Mr Emmitt like? |

He was very good under Matterson. Since Millward came in he has been average at best. If you can get him back to his best you have signed a great player. |

Started off his Castleford career well but I think that was more to do with the fact that we had an easy start to the season that saw us topping the league after round 9 (W7 D1 L1). Once the going got tough then Emmitt was found out to be average at best. I think Cas have got a good deal in getting Emmitt off the wage bill and taking a local lad back into the fold. Hopefully Ryan Boyle has matured as a prop and will prosper being back in his home-town club. |

Ditto for Boyle , Looked promising in 2010 but didn't really kick on in 2011 and was pretty much out of favour in 2012 . Both players may benefit from signing for clubs closer to home , hope it works well for him . |

Glad Ryan is back - puts our home grown numbers up a notch. I can see him been a regular in the team due to the dismal showing of the other front rowers. This will put a bit of pressure on Huby as well who (by his own admission) has not been pulling his weight lately and IMO as been shocking. Mason as been on a holiday since he joined us so he will have to look over his shoulder and Emmitt does'nt look fit so he won't be a great loss. |

Im guessing Boyle won't be costing as much as Emmitt in wages?. If Emmitt starts to show his form of 2011 again it will say a fair bit about Millward's man-management skills... |

It's a fair point. A lot of Saints fans were saying how underwhelming Gaskell has been, but two tries in two games has already eclipsed Howarth who went the other way. It wouldn't surprise me if he starts his Salford career running but I think maybe there are other factors such as less travel, new start etc rather than pointing a finger at Millward. The same goes for Boyle. Always gave 100% for us but had fallen out of favour. I'm sure a return to his old stomping ground will bring the best out in him, so this is probably a good deal for both Clubs. |
